Rodeo Coordinator/Qualifying Rodeo Club Info and Updates:
  • All buckles must be available to award at the end of the last performance of the rodeo.
  • Wrangler Division rodeos are now required to award a first place championship buckle in each event at $150 value, per the action of the May 19, 2009 LHSRA Board of Directors (see minutes under tab at left).
  • High School Rodeos continue to be required to award championship and reserve championship buckles per event at $150 and $100, respectively, as well as an All Around Cowboy and Cowgirl at $200 each.
  • Qualifying rodeos may enhance their awards program, if they so desire.
  • Qualifying rodeos are encourage to provide Performance Awards. They may be purchased or donated prizes of any type.
  • Stock issues will now be referred to the Qualifying Rodeo Clubs who arrange for the stock contractor. To avoid any issues, it is recommended that Rodeo Coordinators require the stock, the Arena Director and the Judges to arrive in ample time to assess the stock. The Arena Director is to determine if the numbers of head are adequate and if the stock is even and within the weight range of the NHSRA rule book. The Judges will determine if there are any health, physical or animal welfare issues that would interfere with the ability of the stock to compete. All parties should be involved in a resolution if there is a need for additional or replacement stock. Adequate time will be necessary to correct any issues before the first performance, as the Qualifying Rodeo is now accountable for the stock, per September 10, 2009 Board action.
  • Joey Hebert and Shane Young have been added to the list of Approved Stock Contractors.
  • Billy goats are no longer permitted in the Goat Tying at qualifying or state final’s rodeos in Louisiana, but are permissible at the national level.
  • Info sheets for the rodeos are to be emailed to stephanie_rodrigue@camsch.org by Monday of the week of the rodeo. In addition to all basic contact info, dates, times, an emergency number and a GPS address of the arena must be included, as well as lodging, RV and stall info. The Stock Contractor and Rodeo Coordinator’s name might also be included, as well as any other info that would assist participants and spectators.
