  • Tammy Parrott (337.523.3412) has volunteered to chair the basket. Please begin gathering up items to place inside and get them to Tammy by noon on Saturday, July 18.
  • All contestants are asked to bring a minimum of two auction items each for the Scholarship Foundation Live/Silent Auctions. This is a critical fundraiser (especially in our current economy) to continue to provide the hundreds of thousands of dollars awarded in scholarships. Please tag your items with your name, events, and state of Louisiana. If a couple of contestants wish to get together on a bigger item, that will be fine! The items should be brought to the Scholarship Foundation Office, located next to the Rodeo Office, once you get to Farmington.
  • All senior qualifiers are urged to complete the Scholarship Application in the NHSRA Times before leaving home to assure neatness, accuracy and completeness. Please be reminded that no faxed transcripts will be accepted. Transcripts must be submitted at the same time as the application. The submission deadline is Sunday, July 19, at 6:00 PM in the Scholarship Foundation Office.
  • Scott Broussard and Mitch Parrott are handling Louisiana Day. Gumbo will be served, along with other sides and desserts. As soon as details are finalized, more info will be posted.
  • The tentative NHSFR schedule is posted at http://www.nhsra.com/images/stories/2009nhsfrschedule.pdf. The tentative draw should be posted by Monday, July 13, 2009 at www.nhsra.org.
  • Please keep abreast of www.lhsra.info and www.nhsra.org for new info.

Wrangler Division National Team Shirts Issue!

If you called Cowboy’s Western Store to change the size on the national team shirt that was ordered on the Sunday of the Finals, please call Diane Fontenot immediately and let her know for whom and what sizes were changed.  Mrs. Diane’s cell number is 337.831.2479.  Cowboy’s only changes sizes, they did not make note of the names.  The changes will make the master order list incorrect when it is time to distribute shirts this weekend.

Hanna Washburn’s Illness
As you are probably aware, Hannah Washburn was very recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer, has had surgery and is recovering well. If all goes according to plan, her treatments will be limited in number, once she is recovered enough to begin. There are tests ahead that everyone prays will have good results. Hannah looked beautiful and happy at Rudy and Lacey’s wedding this past Saturday. She plans to attend the Junior High Finals this weekend. She and her family thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and many acts of kindnesses. As a silver lining to this particular cloud, Mrs. Vicki Waguespack, Tyler’s mom, has just experienced having a daughter diagnosed with cancer, so she has been an invaluable resource to Hanna’s family, getting them lined out with a doctor in Baton Rouge and generally paving the way for the Washburns’ experiences to be as least problematic as possible. We will see this summer’s blood drive at the LHSFR expanded to include both lymphoma and thyroid cancers! Cards and letters may be mailed to Hannah at 7323 Choupique Road, Sulphur, LA 70665. She would love to hear from you!

Update on Corbin Carpenter with RFD Appearance Tonight!

Many of you asked that I let you know when Corbin would be giving his testimony on TV. He will be on RFD-TV TONIGHT (Monday, May 25) at 8:30 pm CST on Cowboy Church. On Dish Network, RFD-TV is on channel 231. I'm not sure what channel on other providers. Susie McEntire Luchsinger asked Corbin to come to the Championship Timed Events back in March to speak and Cowboy Church and to be taped for tonight's airing. Susie told me a couple of weeks ago that Part 2 will be aired next Sunday afternoon at 4:30 pm CST and again at 8:30 pm CST on Cowboy Church. I don't know if Part 2 is only of Russ's sermon or if Corbin's testimony will be on again.

Corbin continues to improve!  In fact, we just returned home from Jackson, MS last night where he spent the weekend roping in a big United States Team Roping Assoc (USTRC) competition. Although he roped well, he didn't bring home a check. For those of you who know him, he doesn't think he did well since he didn't win. HA! This is the same determination and commitment that has him back doing one of the things he loves, roping!  We are still praising God that our son is able to rope again and his talents are returning.  Also, that Corbin is sharing the word of God's healing power.

Thanks to each of you who have so unselfishly supported us throughout this ordeal. You will never know what your kindness and concern has meant to us. Please continue to pray for Corbin that he will return 100%.  We hope to see you all down the trail real soon! THERESA

Please help spread the word!  Contestants who are just below the 36th position in the standings, but are interested in competing if someone in the Top 36 opts out are asked to call in, as well.  Then,  check the draw when it is posted to determine whether or not you were, in fact, rolled up!  This will save time with phone calls and expedite posting of the draw.

(Please note new dates due to a reported conflict by The Pavilion with the Qualifying Rodeo in Kinder and an attempt to simply swap weekends to remedy the situation.  That conflict actually did not exist, once The Pavilion compared both of their scheduling calendars in depth; but in the interim, Leesville scheduled a bull riding the weekend after their original dates and does not want an event to be held the prior weekend.)
